Set of 3: Swatch "The Beep Box" Pagers
In 1998, Swatch (makers of the watches you just HAD to have in the 80s...) decided to enter the U.S. pager market with these, a colorful pager called "The Beep Box". Unfortunately, the pager market disintegrated as cell phones became smaller, cheaper, and ubiquitous, so these devices never really caught on. Now they are pretty much a footnote to Swatch history, albeit an interesting one.
I got this set from a local pager company that was going out of business. They did not come in any kind of packaging, but the plastic film that protects the LCD readout is untouched, so I don't believe these actually saw use, either. They're in good cosmetic shape, with original plastic belt clips and lanyards, and with a new battery could be used as a retro-style pocket watch, with timer and alarm functions.
This may be your only chance to pick up a complete set of all three color variants of this item: orange and red (rare), blue and black, grey and black. PDF of the manual is included.
Originally sold for $100 each, I have sold several of these sets for $90 to collectors on Ebay. Now I'm down to my last two.
