Players looking for a combination of power and control should definitely take a close look at the RDS 003. We found a clean and crisp response from this racquet with some nice pop from all areas of the court. A large sweetspot also makes this one of the more forgiving control oriented 'tweener racquets currently available. From the baseline spin generation comes easily thanks to an open string pattern and easy access to fast swing speeds. At net the RDS 003 offers excellent maneuverability and a solid feel at impact. The response is crisp and offers the player some nice feedback regarding direction and pace of shot. We found plenty of pace and spin on serves with the RDS 003. The added length proved to be advantageous both when going for a heater down the middle or when looking for some added kick on serves. Offering a solid and predictable response from all areas of the court, this one is well suited to 3.5 to 5.0 NTRP level players.
The RDS 003 features a new shaft technology called Elastic Ti which is designed to make the racquet shaft snap back to its original position after ball contact faster than conventional racquet frames. Yonex claims that Elastic Ti provides the player with more power and accuracy. The RDS 003 also features the Yonex Soft Grommet technology in the four corners of the hoop for increased comfort and a larger sweetspot.
