40 foot sailboat
Boxer was purchased in Ft Lauderdale Florida in Spring 2001. We had her re-rigged there by Nance and Underwood. We also refit Boxer in Florida to comply with the surveyors recommendations. We then delivered her to Annapolis, Maryland where we sailed her for 1 season. In 2002 we discovered excessive corrosion in the water tanks and this resulted in what began a complete refit. We removed the saloon to rebuild the water tanks. A total refit began in the fall of 2002 and completed in the fall of 2005. While the tanks were in my shop we replaced all plumbing and wiring. The only wiring not replaced is the cabin lighting although we did replace the light fixtures except for some of the older bunk lights. All plumbing and propane systems are new, installed to USCG specifications. We re-launched her Columbus Day 2005. Boxer is a stable solid vessel with comfortable motion on all points of sail. We recently took her from the Chesapeake Bay 11/05 and cruised to the Bahamas for 6 months. Although Boxer is a 1974 in most aspects she is a 2005 and is cruise ready.
Boxer is spacious with lots of room for provisions. We easily can provision for a 6-month cruise, understand that fresh vegetables and water are the only provisions that we are required to obtain underway.
